The 8th of March is a globally celebrated day honoring the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of all women: International Women's Day. Behind Intensiv are seven woman, it seems only right to celebrate woman for longer than a day. Here begins the start of our very own shout outs. The 8th of March marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Gender parity is a numerical concept related to gender equality. This was first recognized in the early 1900's, during the industrial expansion, turbulence, population boom, and rise of radical ideologies. In collaboration with many organisations IWD was declared an annual theme that is in support of all woman across the globe."The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights," as stated by journalist and social and political activist Gloria Steinem.
Thus, International Women’s Day is not solely about one woman but about the unity, celebration, advocacy and action of all women on a global level.
A day widely celebrated for over a century and continuing to impact the lives of many women, International Women’s Day holds an ethos that aims to celebrate and commemorate the strong women in the world. There is still a lot of justice to be served in the world, however, IWD holds an ethos to combat these issues.
